Shaping
September 13th was our first day of shaping. We shaped for a total of 22 minutes. And then we continued on the 15th with shaping for a total of 25 minutes. Overall it took her 47 minutes to shape.
We first shaped her to know where she was supposed to be in the box, therefore every time she went near the right side of the box we pressed the lever. We then shaped her to get used to where the treats come from and to start going towards/pressing the lever. She pressed the lever a total of 120 times on day 2 and we only pressed the button 38 times. Therefore we knew she was learning, it got to where we had to press the button occasionally to not having to press it at all.
Shaping was much like what we discussed in class, reinforcing when they are near or do the wanted behavior.
